Opinion: I am not sure how in tune Americans are with British politics. The same applies to British citizens when it comes to those across the Pond.
We live in an era of sound-bytes, rolling 24/7 news and big money media.
The result is we may be even less informed than in the past or swamped with meaningless irrelevant information.
But for my American friends who are unsure of Nigel Farage listen up.
Farage is a former Tory Party man who defected to Ukip, his own nationalistic party, because of a difference of opinion over the European Union. Before he struck out in politics he was a City trader.
Ukip was something of a one-man band. Ultimately its only political representaive was an MP who defected from the Tories, aka the Conservative party.
Ironically the party has more elected representatives in the EU parliament and that includes Farage. He has been quite happy riding the EU gravy train for years.
Ukip may have won more parliamentary seats in the Westminster parliament with a different type of electoral system; proportional representation would benefit them as opposed to the current first past the post wins in each constituency and with enough seats governs nationally.
Farage joined Donald Trump on stage in the USA this week.
Mr Farage was touted as something of a hero to the American people; the man who enabled we British people to take back our country but that is bunkum.
There were candidates from all political parties representing the BRexit and the BRemain camp.
But the BRexit camp used huge lies, whoppers in fact, to win over voters.
And there were plenty of people who voted leave for many reasons and needed no political persuasion.
The UK is currently in a sort of no man's land. It is still an EU member but with a majority of people voting to leave the EU the proverbial has hit the fan and continues to do so.
The value of the pound is in freefall. The country waits and waits and the future looks vague at best.
The vote has divided the country even putting young against old as many young people believe it was mainly the older generation who voted leave though a huge percentage of young people eligible to vote did not bother to do so.
Nigel Farage lied about immigration and more to win voters over.
He is a political caricature character and the fact that Trump classes his appearance as an achievement says a lot about The Donald.
Two fakers together on stage; two liars, brothers in politics?
The day after the EU referendum the New Statesman reported:
Once again demonstrating the flexibility and nuance for which he is famed, Nigel Farage has called Leave’s suggestion that the £350m we will “no longer send to the EU” would be spent on the NHS a “mistake”.
The BRexit campaign unveiled an inflammatory and fake poster regarding immigration just hours before Labour MP Jo Cox was murdered.
Most people in the UK accept that Farage is a liar but some now blame him in some ways for her death.
He stepped down from politics as soon as the vote was won with some claiming his paymasters called the tune.
But he is a well-paid member of the European parliament and is set for a nice pay off one way or another.
Another New Statesman post says:
Nigel Farage and his fellow Ukip MEPs will continue to pocket their £84,000 a year salaries for the foreseeable future, the party has confirmed.
The big losers in all of this is we the people not the bureaucrats.
Ukip unlike some other British parliamentarions in the EU take the full salary. The joke is that overinflated salary is one reason people voted BRexit; the price of additional bureaucracy.
With a nice pension, golden hand-shake or call it what you will Farage is financially set up fo life thanks to the EU.
But Farage is always a hypocrite; he verbally attacked President Obama for visiting the UK during the referendum campaign period accusing him of interfering in another country's politics!!
If you can look at the footage below and see two credible politicians the world is in a sorry mess. Take off the rose-coloured glasses and take a good look and you will see two phoney, laughable, silly, ridiculous but ultimately dangerous men.
