The Indonesian military has joined a search and recovery operation as it tries to locate the plane by way of its 'black box' signal.
The search was halted Sunday night but resumed early Monday and includes air searches.
Monday there are reports that the crash site has been found in Papua but not reached; local villagers report seeing a plane crash into a mountain. The plane is thought to have crashed in a remote part of Papua that is not easily accessible.
Early Monday CNN report a search plane has sighted wreckage on a mountain.
Whatever brought the plane down must have happened quickly; there was no distress call from the flight crew.
