Thursday Cliff Richard spoke of his friendship with Cilla and sang Faithful One. Family members also spoke at the funeral paying tribute to Cilla and so did Christopher Biggins and Jimmy Tarbuck.
In the congregation famous faces such as Sir Tom Jones, Paul O'Grady, Carol Vorderman and Lorraine Chase looked visibly move throughout the service.
As one of Cilla's most famous songs 'Anyone who had a Heart' belted out in the church the crowd outside joined in. As they sang many linked arms and swayed in time to the song.
Cilla Black had a career that spanned six or seven decades and encompassed pop music, middle-of-the-road-music and all round entertainment.
Asked ahead of the Funeral today Sir Tom Jones hit the nail on the head as far as Cilla's popularity when he said she came from an ordinary background, like him had the common touch, and in spite of fame and fortune retained it to the end.
We will end this brief report of the funeral with veteran Liverpudlian comedian Jimmy Tarbuck who "asked those gathered to remember every role and described her as "Liverpool's Cinderella" and "the first Lady of Showbusiness". He added: "For each and everyone in St Mary’s Church today. She was our mum, our nan, our sister, our inspiration, our treasured friend." Daily Mirror.
From St Mary's the family will attend a private ceremony in Allerton Cemetery, where her parents are buried, and where Cilla will be laid to rest
