The boil water notice for parts of Lancashire remains in place. The work we have done so far is helping us to reduce what were already very low levels of the bug in the water even further and we also now have more intelligence about how it is moving the system as we keep on flushing.
But for many water consumers in the U.K. the big issue is "should our water services and supply be in the hands of private for profit companies or state-owned?"
United Utilities is looking at a compensation bill upwards of £15mil. How it will fund those claims is another big question.
Friday the Blackpool Gazette reports "the company has reassured consumers the payouts – estimated already at £15m and mounting – will not be offset by a rise in water bills" but I can hear you saying "pull the other one!"
