June Bacon, from Barnsley, launched a fund raising appeal to help the stricken family pay for Conley's funeral. She did so "to give this little boy a good send-off". The FundRazr appeal raised £1,050 after 20 hours and soon reached £2,289. Ms Bacon hoped to raise £5,000 for the Thompson family but actually raised £2,890.
Conley died as a result of a tragic accident. Having gained access to a local building site it appears that he slipped on wet ground and slid into a vertical pipe. His clothing rode up and he choked to death unable to free himself.
Social media can be twisted, bitter and judgemental at times and the family of Conley experienced pointless nasty comments on the death of their little boy.
But accidents and tragedies happen all the time and there but for the grace of god, if you are a believer or not, go any of us.
BBC News reports from the funeral Tuesday "His family said: "To describe Conley you would have to say he was cheeky, mischievous and loud, but also loving and caring, with a heart of gold. "As with most boys his age, Conley lived life large and loud, with a zest for adventure and curiosity."
Police are still piecing together Conley's last hours.
