With the G7 out of the way the real world leaders will meet at the 2015 secretive gathering of the Bilderberg group. This annual meeting is a private affair and contentious. In spite of prominent politicians such as Britain's Kenneth Clarke insisting the group is innocuous few believe that claim.
Later this week politicians, bankers, Goldman Sachs representatives, selected mainstream media editors, spies, business leaders and royalty will meet at the two-day conference held this year at Telfs-Buchen in Austria.
The Mail Online says the invited few will include senior figures from around the world such as Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, the President of Austria Heinz Fischer, Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel and ministers from Sweden, the US, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
Protesters will also attend kept at a huge distance from the conference.
Residents of Telfs-Buchen are already feeling the effects of Bilderberg as their special police put the small mountain community under martial law-style security; hardly free, fair and democratic.
If groups such as Bilderberg truly act for the good of all though how come since the original conference in 1954 world events have taken one bad turn after another?
At any such conference there will be a main agenda and secret side-meetings of some attendees often with their own agendas.
Wikipedia says "It [Bilderberg] was initiated by several people, including Polish politician-in-exile Józef Retinger, concerned about the growth of anti-Americanism in Western Europe, who proposed an international conference at which leaders from European countries and the United States would be brought together with the aim of promoting Atlanticism—better understanding between the cultures of the United States and Western Europe to foster co-operation on political, economic and defense issues."
As the rich continue to get richer, many historically rather than self-made, is Bilderberg all about protecting the elite and to hell with the rest of us?
There is a line of thought though that believes such groups ultimately determine the victors of national elections in the west.
Ed Miliband was not a favourite, with his left leaning policies, but Bilderberg have declared support for Hillary Clinton in 2016. Does that mean that big money will decide the US election and the length of time spent debating and electing for real is just a huge waste of time and money?
Infowars, a right-wing publication, says "The Bilderberg 2015 Conference, scheduled to take place this weekend in Austria will focus, at least in part, on “American elections,” according to a press release on the secretive cabal’s very limited public website. The factoid appeared along with a list of attendees, one of whom is Jim Messina of The Messina Group – who just happens to be a chief advisor to Hillary Clinton. Messina also heads up the super PAC Priorities USA, which supported Obama and is now firmly in the Clinton camp. Messina also spearheaded Barack Obama’s re-election campaign in 2012, and has just come back to the US after leading the deeply unpopular UK Prime Minister David Cameron to a surprise majority victory in British elections."
In 2013 we reported "Jim Messina and Lynton Crosby, no politics for these campaigners" assessing it seems correctly that these big fish work for bigger fish.
When Labour's Ed Miliband used David Axelrod also an Obama spin doctor to lead their election campaign it was easy to see it would all end in tears for left-wing voters in the UK.
Messina has vowed to get Hillary elected in 2016 after returning to the USA which means he has no politics. He cannot work for the likes of Cameron and the UK Tory party and support true Democratic policies; the two just do not go together.
The conclusion-Elections and democracy are after all flawed and limited.
Aimed at appeasing 'we the people' and protecting the elite from an end such as the Russian and French aristocracy people are waking up to the fact that western democracy is both good and bad.
Infowars reports this year’s Bilderberg conference will be held June 11 – 14 and declared topics will include:
Labour's former shadow chancellor Ed Balls will join the meeting along with Chancellor George Osborne and Rona Fairhead BBC Trust Chairman.
Why is Fairhead attending? Are the media bought and paid for?
Rona Fairhead who sat on HSBC's board during a period of time when the bank is accused of advising people on tax avoidance appeared before the Public Accounts Committee in the UK in March and was told by Labour's Margaret Hodge , Chair, that she should resign from her BBC post.
Ultimately Hodge went a step further and said the UK government should sack Fairhead from post as her record at HSBC puts her current BBC role into question. But she is still in post and about to go on the four-day jolly to Austria. She also remains an independent non-executive director of the HSBC.
In August 2014 Culture Secretary Sajid Javid, Conservative, recommended Fairhead as the preferred candidate for the chairmanship of the BBC Trust and in October she took up post; previously she was chair of HSBC's audit committee, running its risk assessment committee.
But Fairhead has been paid for work from both HSBC and the BBC and is accused of a conflict of interest including when it came to the reporting of the HSBC scandal.
It is doubtful that if she knew what was going on at HSBC she was alone.
Sadly the conclusion has to be that Bilderberg stinks.
There are no notes taken and no formal proposals made. In that respect it is just another expensive jolly for a favoured few.
But it also means secrecy is key.
Conspiracy theorists have a field day with Bilderberg and can you blame them?
As UK Chancellor Osborne gets set to unleash the mother of all austerity measures in July he will chat with the rich and powerful in Austria ahead of yet another UK budget.
These people will bounce ideas of each other which will not be recorded or reported. They have a vested interest in retaining the status quo in many things including politics.
Do you trust them to be above board?
