Op-ed: The two people above are standing for election as councillors in Crewe.
Natasha Maroni is the Labour Party candidate and Cllr. Brian Silvester is standing for UKIP. There is also a Tory candidate.
The image above on the left was shared on Twitter by Natasha and features her election promises. The image of Mr Silvester's tweet shown on the right above also appeared on Twitter.
Mr Silvester kicked off his campaign by verbally attacking Ms Maroni for her paltry 17 followers on Twitter.
Ms Maroni may not have been an avid tweeter, and her account new for the election and beyond, but somehow Mr Silvester managed to turn that into a personal attack.
The attack however backfired and did so spectacularly.
At time of writing Ms Maroni has 14.2k followers. She is following 152 people.
Mr Silvester is still at less than 10,ooo followers and is following over 8,000.
Could some of Mr Silvester's followers be 'bots?'
Ms Maroni's followers come from the Labour Party family and beyond.
No decent person likes a bully.
Mr Silvester tried a bullying approach toward Ms Maroni on Twitter and lost.
Will he lose the election? Hopefully.
In 2012 Crewe Chronicle reported "DISGRACED Cheshire East councillor Brian Silvester has been spared jail but must pay almost £70,000 after admitting putting vulnerable lives at risk at his rented property in Crewe."
"According to the fire service, escape in the event of a blaze would have been ‘almost impossible’."
The council however confirmed he would be able to remain as councillor.
Over to you, the voters of Crewe.
The election is scheduled for December 1, 2016
