An intended suicide bombing of a parade in south London on Saturday would have targeted soldiers from the same unit as murdered soldier Lee Rigby, according to The Sun.
How credible the plot was is not known but as terrorists use the month of Ramadan to increase terror the United Kingdom must be viewed as a possible target.
The country's support of the USA in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and ongoing NATO activities make it a prime target.
Getting the balance right and protecting British values is as important as beating the terrorists and keeping us all safe.
This week Zack Davies, 26, from Mold, Flintshire, who followed Dr Sarandev Bhambra, a trainee dentist, into a Tesco supermarket and carried out a "brutal and unprovoked attack" with a 12 inch machete on him was found guilty of attempted murder.
Davies described as a Nazi loving loner carried out the attack as "revenge for the death of the soldier Lee Rigby" who was murdered in Woolwich two-years ago.
He only stopped his attack on Dr Bhambra when former soldier Peter Michael Fuller intervened and shouted "Stop, this is madness, I am ex-forces."
Mr Fuller told the court "This attack was racially motivated... as the attack was taking place he was shouting words such as 'white power', 'this is revenge' and 'this is for Lee Rigby'."
Armed Forces Day UK
Armed Forces Day was previously called Veterans' Day and is an annual event celebrated in late June, usually the last Saturday of the month, to commemorate the service of men and women in the British Armed Forces.
It is a relatively new annual event and only began in 2006; in 2009 the name was changed to Armed Forces Day.
It is not a public holiday and still passes by fairly unreocgnised by many. That is beacuse the UK tends to remember its military heroes and heroines on Remembrance Sunday in November.
But that day remembers the war dead and Armed Forces Day acknowledges the ongoing work of British military forces.
2015 events could be supported more extensively in the wake of Fridays terror events in France, Kuwait and Tunisia and the alleged foiled bomb plot.
