Mr Kennedy's father Ian, who was close to him in every way living next-door died in April. His defeat at the polls on May 7 added to his pain.
Funeral arrangements will be revealed in due course.

The Daily Mail is running a typical gutter press story about how Mr Kennedy was hounded in the days running up to the General Election by SNP supporters and after his defeat at the polls. In this immediate post death period it is unnecessary and vile. It may or may not be true but either way is inappropriate.
