Pubs were doing a roaring trade Saturday as the afternoon turned into a red-hot day in every sense of the word.
Traffic including public transport is diverted from Cott's main streets for the village's special day and the main roads where the events are staged are closed to all traffic.
From 10am when the Longcroft Gospel Choir were the first performers of the day until 5.30 pm when Soul Patrol performed it was day of fun.
Children began to get cranky as the day wore on and there were perhaps too many dogs among the thick of it considering the heat. However large bowls of water for dogs were dotted here and there at shops, stalls, pubs and cafes. As for the cranky kids there was no respite.
The day was helped along by unusually good late June early July weather making it a hit from start to finish.
A couple of relaxed looking beat Bobbies were visible to enforce a ban on alcohol except in designated areas but they too enjoyed a good day.
Cottingham Day 2016 is scheduled for Jul 2 2016-a date to put in your diary.
Note: Cottingham Day is run through funding from the Parish Council, sponsorship, and money raised on the day.
