Eclipse chasers in Cornwall were rewarded with bright blue cloudless skies and perfect sightings.
TV News footage was excellent and of course you can only watch an eclipse indirectly or through strong sunshades which protect the eyes.
According to BBC News 'millions' experienced a breathtaking eclipse Friday but sadly this blogger was not one of them.
Called the 'best eclipse' in years it was a notable event.
In all areas of the UK the eclipse reached at least 83% which explains why there was not total darkness; further north in the Shetland Islands of Scotland and the Faroe Islands percentages were as high as 97.
Today's event was the first visible eclipse in Wales for 16 years. The next solar eclipse to be visible in the UK will occur in 2026.
