Any delays cause a backlog of flights and although the half-term school holidays and traditional summer holiday season have both ended vacation travel is still busy.
Remember the fog could also slow down your journey to the airport.
Some rail networks are also reporting delays due to poor weather conditions-namely thick fog.
The temperature is falling but it is still relatively mid meaning that associated ice should not be present with the fog.
Take extra care if driving visibility is poor and follow traffic advice even if it means slowing down and risking missing your flight. You could be racing to the airport but your flight could be delayed anyways.
Better to get to the airport in one piece than become just another road traffic statistic.

The fog is not just a U.K. problem and BBC News reports;
Heathrow airport said around 45 flights had been cancelled, while London City was closed to all flights for several hours.
