Thanks to Glenn Greenwald Twitter for this re Angela Eagle
The following is via Karen Dean and the Corbyn 50 + supporter's group on Facebook.

Karen asks "Anyone remember Angela Eagle's letter when going for deputy leader."

Dear Labour Party Member,

I said today that the political elite need to lay off Jeremy Corbyn.

I would happily serve under anyone the members choose to be our leader. Why? Because I respect the wisdom of our members, supporters and affiliates and our Party’s process of electing a new leadership team. Every candidate has the right to be heard and put forward a vision for Labour’s future and, whether you agree with Jeremy Corbyn or not, he is in the race and is entitled to participate.

So the talk of coups, remarks about not serving in Shadow Cabinets and former Prime Minister’s telling people to get ‘heart
transplants’ need to stop now.

When I launched my Deputy Leadership campaign I said that I want to unite the Labour Party and focus our efforts on defeating the real enemy - the Tories.

I am a proud trade unionist but I’ve never been in any faction and I’ve always been loyal. I’ve never been afraid to speak out
when we got it wrong either, like I did over Foundation Hospitals or University Tuition Fees and that is why I am speaking out now because the public attacks are only helping our political enemies.

Let’s debate but let us do it with respect. If I am elected Deputy Leader, there will be a place for all views and opinions in the
Labour Party. I’ll make sure of that by uniting us and preparing us for the battles ahead.

I hope you will join my campaign and together we can build a movement that we can all be proud of.

Best wishes,

Angela.
Angela Eagle MP
Labour Deputy Leader Candidate

Eagle claimed to be the unity candidate posting the following online on a Labour website in August 2015:
As ballots will be dropping on door mats tomorrow, it is time to reflect on this leadership election. I have been meeting with members and supporters all across the United Kingdom to hear what they have to say about our Party’s future. We all know that May 7th was a terrible day in our party’s memory but there has been a resounding message of hope from all corners of this country.

I have promised that, if I am elected your Deputy Leader, I will end command and control from the top of the party and give members more of a say. The wisdom of our membership should always be remembered andthusly I will fight to give you better representation on the NEC. Over thirty-five years in the Labour Party, including my time as Chair of the National Executive Committee and National Policy Forum, has taught me that the collective wisdom of our members and grassroots should never be dismissed. All views should be respected whatever end of the political spectrum they are.

I welcome the new membership to our party. I will be the members Deputy and represent you.

I have never been afraid to speak up for what I believe in, be it in Parliament or when I was a trade union official and I will continue to ensure our values of equality and social justice remain at the heart of the Party and in future policy. That is why so many of you joined the Labour Party; I joined when I was 17 to change the world, and will continue to fight for what I believe is right.

I am so grateful to UCATT, TSSA, Unison and the CWU for their nominations, and the recommendation from Unite. Our trade union links are what make our party strong. I am similarly grateful to my colleagues in Parliament who nominated me, and who have continued to support me through this process. I enjoyed meeting with CLPs during my tour, and gaining support from them during the nomination period was welcoming.

I have said that I will be loyal to whichever leader the Party choses; the wisdom of the party is more important than any faction. I will not be afraid tell them if the leaderis getting it wrong- but not on the front of a newspaper. There has been in-fighting from within our Party during this election, and we must remember who our real enemy is- the Tories.

This Tory government has already been relentless in its attack on our party, supporters and country. By scrapping maintenance grants they have stopped so many people from going to university. Their assault on young people, women, people who receive benefits and the enviroment is blatant and wrong. They have been systematic in destroying so many things that make our country great; the NHS and our welfare state.

If you elect me your Deputy Leader I will lead the charge against these assaults, always keeping in mind the members and supporters and our shared Labour values.

I voted for Angela Eagle. And she has betrayed my trust. Never will I do so again. I was a member of CHOSE( Now Unison) and that was the main reason ( rightly or wrongly) I voted for her. I was convinced she would be good as a Labour deputy. How wrong could I be.

If Eagle thinks being part of a undemocratic affront to Labour principles, by an inconsequential group of MP's numbering 172 is uniting the party. I have some shocking news for her.

There are 600,000 members 200,000 plus more since the last leadership election. Many have joined. Labour to be a part of Jeremy Corbyns dream of democracy and fair play.Thousands are joining weekly with the same aims and objectives.

Perhaps those 172 inconsequential MP's who appear more in tune with Camerons Conservatives than Labour, should do the math, and realise their cause is hopeless. The unions think so, and so do the majority of members and CLP's.

We will see after next leadership election if it happens. Maybe she will stand, maybe she wont. Maybe she might, maybe she might not. The procrastination is sincerely damaging to her, without joining g a few haired brained MP's with little else to occupy their minds.

Who is paying for this leadership election. It should come from MP's inflated salaries and not the members who do not want it. The rouge MP's are so out of touch its beyond reality.

Feel just the same Dave.

Trident vote due in a week.

I voted for Watson for deputy and regret that too. My sense of fair play means I will be voting for Corbyn no matter who stands at this time.

If this coup succeeds I will be leaving the Labour Party because it won't be the Labour Party any more. To vote for a party of U turning, conniving, lying plotters would not be an honest use of my vote. I suspect thousands will be like me and leave too. The Labour Party will be finished and the blame will lie entirely with those who orchestrated this undemocratic coup, which is against all labour stands for. They've flirted with the Tory press to,do their dirty work, but the have a tiger by the tail. Do they really think Murdoch is going to look kindly on them at the next GE? They've provided him with his fun and he will crucify them with their own lies.

Very well said Pattie.

I like fair play which is one reason I have always voted Labour.

Break trust and sense of fair play, act like a backstabbing nasty party and then expect a vote. Are they nuts?
