Citizen journalism chasing Tory election fraud

When Jeremy Corbyn was elected leader of the Labour party one group of people were allegedly not fans. That group of people were those aged 50 and over.

So a group of suitably aged Corbyn fans created a Facebook page and as they say the rest is history.

The group on Facebook now has more than 4,ooo members and continues to grow. Tuesday the group and others held a #toryelectionfraud Tweetstorm and this time it really did go down a storm.

A number of members attended the London protest a while back and Wednesday a couple of members decided to use their initiative and some.

Dorothy Badrick and at least one other ensured the group had a visible presence when police and journalists met with the electoral commission Wednesday in London to decide what next for allegations about Tory election fraud.

Dorthy's report back follows:
South East Massif50+ reporting from the City of London, outside the Electoral commision:

OMG my feet hurt!

It is all Sue's fault of course.

No sooner did we know that there was a meeting between the Heads of the Police Forces in the constituencies where there was alleged, fraudulent overspending, and the Electoral Comission; than Sue insisted that we should have a presence there.

So, at the crack of dawn, Ok,10.00am, there we were, beating Channel 4 news special investigation unit by 2 hours; outside in glorious sunshine. Having found out the time of the meeting we retired to consider our strategy and tactics: we went for coffee!

Since we did not know what the delegates looked like and since he Electoral Commission was in a suite of offices in an awfully smart building owned by lawyers, we decided that we would emulate all news crews and make a video.

It took a little time since neither of us could get our phones to the video function and we werent sure how to position the banner with only one person.

Having given ourselves a quick lesson in news reporting, (how hard can it be?), we hotfooted it back to record our masterpiece. I believe Sue is being nominated for a Pulitzer Prize!!

We attracted no little attention and had a serious political discussion with the security detail and then he advised us where the glass lifts were and the best place to video.

We had, channel four news had not, arrived in time to stand outside the glass lift with our banner as the delegates were wafted to the seventh floor for the meeting.

Having an eye to the priorities we went for lunch and dissolved into laughter over our efforts.

Back to the Electoral Commission we met up with the crew from Channel 4 news who were a little bemused by us, (cannot think why?!) and WE were able to advise THEM as to when the meeting ended and when the delegates were leaving.

Banner out again we approached every delegate asking how the meeting went and were there any results?

Sadly, they smiled but with thin, tight, lips, not even a "no comment".

So, rolling up the banner we wended our way back.

We are not called South EastMassif50+ after the size of my, well you know.

Sue wants, I believe its called a rig and insists I need Louboutin shoes.

I think we just continue going looby loo!!

South East Massif50+ reporting in, over and out. Sue are you sure my a--- doesn't look big in it?
Behind the light-hearted report are serious allegations.

Did the Tory government in effect steal the 2015 General Election by overspending?

This is citizen journalism, and as a Corbyn 50 + member myself, I’m immensely proud of you

I'm delighted to see this. It's what democratic politics should be about - determined and well-informed citizens holding the Establishment to account in a polite but purposeful way.

Well done, the South East Massif!
