But ahead of Goldsmith "Kit Malthouse, the MP for North West Hampshire, was forced to resign from his position as patron of the Multiple Sclerosis Society after its members said his voting position “prevented him from being an effective patron." The Institute for Fiscal Studies says the cut to people who use specially adapted equipment will affect 370,000 disabled people, who will each lose an average of £3,500 a year. £3,500 a year is a huge amount of money when you are living on a restricted income and have special needs but even that is a drop in the ocean to many Tory MPs.
Long live the Freedom of Information act and websites such as They Work For You that enable the electorate to get a clear picture of their MP without any spin.

But we know, as disabled people living in Britain today that while the public is in uproar over the Junior Doctor's treatment by Jeremy Hunt and these greedy pigs at the trough, that a large proportion of the public are not concerned when the disabled are hit. We live off benefits, so what does it matter - we should be grateful for what we get. I suspect that those people may have a different take on it should they be unfortunate to fall ill or develop a disability themselves in the many years between now and retirement. I don't suppose people still get ill in their 70's though, do they?

Steve I think many older people are just as appalled at what is happening. Remember they have kids etc. The Tories have shown their true nasty side and I think they will have to do a U turn on this one. But the money they want will have to come from somewhere and it wont be their fat friends. So it could be anyone but not the rich. Those who voted this lot in should remember-there but for the grace of whoever go any of us.

Sorry I didn't put that very well, when I said "I don't suppose people get ill in their 70s" I was referring to the ever upwardly creeping retirement age

At least IDS has now resigned though his replacement Stephen Crabb is likely to be just as bad

Osborne isn't 'Robin Hood' but a 'Robbing Hoodlum'. He treats the treasury like it's the school tuck shop and he's been given the keys. Naturally he's sharing the sherbet dips with his mates and leaving the mess, the floor sweepings and the empty wrappers for the rest of us—if we're lucky.

With that in mind this blog will concentrate on the political scene but with a left wing perspective. Opinion pieces and news will bring you the stories that the MSM prefer to ignore. Archives
