There is no conceivable or legal to do it, but television Thursday morning focused on unnamed GOP leaders who want to replace Donald Trump as their candidate.
It is not only the insults spewing from Trump’s mouth, but falling polls. Trump’s support has been cut in half since his error-filled convention in Cleveland. The highly regarded 538 web says Hillary Clinton has nearly a 78 percent poll lead. Trump is 22. In an unheard of poll from Republican-leaning Rasmussen, Hillary leads by four. Last week she held her first-ever lead, one point. Clinton has big leads in Michigan, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire. Rasmussen gives President Obama a 54 percent approval rating. BoingBoing says some Trump staff are suicidal. “In the wake of Donald Trump's public war of words with the parents of a dead war hero and whatever disgust at it his own party could muster, insiders are claiminghis own campaign manager has given up trying to influence him. With his standing in opinion polls headed south with alarming speed, Trump's staff are reportedly "suicidal",” said BoingBoing. TV networks keep trying to keep the race alive. They say there is a path for Trump to win. It seems more likely that it will be “The Last of the Mohicans,” and Trump will be “Natty Bumpo,” the frontiersman in the James Fenimore Cooper book. Trump needs to find a way to beat “the devil,” his newest name for Hillary. Instead of attacking Clinton he has been his draftdodging, attacks on a Medal of Honor winning veteran who is Muslim and the fact that several leading Republicans who say they will vote for Hillary. Clinton has used her big lead in fundraising to fill the air with adds showing that Trump make many of his prouducts abroad while claiming the Democrats are pushing outside. Turmoil in the Republican Party escalated Wednesday as party leaders, strategists and donors voiced increased alarm about the flailing state of Donald Trump’s candidacy and fears that the presidential nominee was damaging the party with an extraordinary week of self-inflicted mistakes, gratuitous attacks and missed opportunities. Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus was described as “very frustrated” with and deeply disturbed by Trump’s behavior over the past week, having run out of excuses to make on the nominee’s behalf to donors and other party leaders, according to multiple people familiar with the events. Meanwhile, Trump’s top campaign advisers are struggling once again to instill discipline in their candidate, who has spent recent days lurching from one controversy to another while seemingly skipping chances to go on the offensive against his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton. “A new level of panic hit the street,” said longtime operative Scott Reed, chief strategist for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “It’s time for a serious reset,” the Washington Post reported. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2016/07/08/what_would_it_take_for_gop_voters_to_dump_trump_131140.html http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/election-update-clintons-bounce-appears-bigger-than-trumps/ http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2016/08/02/3804115/trump-election-rigged/

Op-ed: Donald Trump, who had five deferments during the Vietnam War, is getting support from his redneck fans. One deferment was for bone spurts he claimed to have suffered but was still playing on college teams. There are no records. At least Dick Cheney got his deferments because he had kids. Trump was running around town using his dad’s money to get laid. Trump supporters were shown on TV attacking a Gold Star Mother, who had lost her son in a war. She was defending the parents of a Medal of Honor winner who died in Iraq. Would these people attack Audie Murphy? All this might seem to mean that Trump has gotten away with it again but far from. His numbers are dropping in the polls. The Republican Party convention was the first in history to get a negative rating, minus 15, according to Rachel Maddow. Trump had been moving up in the polls and was near 50 on the 538 web site. This morning Hillary Clinton, who Trump calls a devil, had 66 percent support. In the separate 538 category that amounts to a forecast, Clinton had 69 percent. “Hillary Clinton has picked up significant ground on Donald Trump when it comes to a variety of personal and policy-related issues, particularly foreign policy, according to the results of a CNN/ORC poll released Tuesday that was conducted in the days after the Democratic National Convention. “Nearly six in 10 registered voters—59 percent—said Clinton is better prepared to handle foreign policy issues, while 36 percent said the same of Trump. In the last CNN/ORC survey conducted after the Republican National Convention, Clinton held a narrower five-point lead of 50 percent to 45 percent on the issue. Results from the survey released Monday showed Clinton with a lead of 52 percent to 43 percent when matched head to head against the Republican nominee,” Politico reported. CNN/ORC International survey conducted Friday-Sunday, shows Clinton leading Trump by 9 points, 52 percent to 43 percent. That’s a massive shift from just a week prior, when CNN/ORC gave Trump a 3-point lead, 48 percent to 45 percent. Clinton’s 7-point bounce over that time was larger than Trump’s 6-point surge from a poll conducted shortly before the GOP convention in Cleveland. Trump was being denounced by Republican leaders and for the first time a member of Congress said he would vote for Hillary, Richard Hanna of New York. "While I disagree with her on many issues, I will vote for Mrs. Clinton," Hanna wrote. "I will be hopeful and resolute in my belief that being a good American who loves his country is far more important than parties or winning and losing." A top Jeb Bush official a day earlier said she would vote for Hillary. The Washington Post had a section with six stories on lies and other misdeeds by Trump. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-elections/gold-star-families-are-demanding-an-apology-from-donald-trump-following-ghazala-khans-comments-a7167236.html Veterans of foreign affairs writes: VFW SUPPORTS GOLD STAR FAMILIESTO RIDICULE A GOLD STAR MOTHER IS OUT-OF-BOUNDS Op-ed: After insulting the Arab American mother of a Medal of Honor winner Donald Trump is under pressure from leading Republicans worried that Hillary is building her lead in polls.
“In recent days, Donald Trump disparaged a fallen soldier’s parents,” said Sen. John McCain, who was taken prisoner during the Vietnam War. “He has suggested that the likes of their son should not be allowed in the United States — to say nothing of entering its service. I cannot emphasize enough how deeply I disagree with Mr. Trump’s statement. I hope Americans understand that the remarks do not represent the views of our Republican Party, its officers, or candidates.” Other leading Republicans shared McCain’s comments. Trump also goofed in several interviews, denying that he was buddies with Russia’s Vladimir Putin. Trump also said Russia would never invade Ukraine. Both were demonstrable lies, and the networks showed videos and published stories proving that with glee. Trump also is fighting the powerful National Football League, claiming they sent him a letter saying their schedule will interfere with presidential debates. The league published a statement denying it had sent any such letter. Numerous outlets have published articles saying Trump’s manager, Paul Manafort, has close ties with Putin and the former dictator of Ukraine, who was ousted and now lives in Russia. The theory has been that even ties to Russia would not hurt Trump; he is invincible. But some polls Monday had him behind by 7 percent, one even by 11. Reuters-Ipsos had him behind by 6 percent. Last week the Republican-leading Rasmussen site gave Hillary the first ever lead, one percent. It even gave President Obama a positive approval rating. Real Clear Politics, which averages polls, has dropped Rasmussen. The 538 poll site, which had shown Hillary dropping, now has her rising again. She had dropped to 51 percent but it now has her at 53, based on polls. That means she has a 53 percent chance to win. Its analytic forecast gives her a 62 percent chance to win. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/07/30/trump-nfl-dispute-whether-league-asked-debates-to-be-moved/ http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/theres-plenty-of-time-for-trump-or-clinton-to-become-likable-enough/ http://www.newtekjournalismukworld.com/robert-weller/traitor-and-draft-dodger-trump-doesnt-know-what-a-hero-is |
